2012 has been a year of changefor the University of Toledo Rockets. The process of gathering information to use in completing this project started under the regime of coach Tim Beckman. Coach Beckman has since left the Toledo family along with other members of our 2010-11 staff. Matt Campbell, the Offensive Coordinator for our prilific offensive football team, has been tapped Head Football Coach. George Anasis, a great friend and mentor on the protocols of coordinating video for a division one college football program, moved to Illinois with Coach Beckman and I wish him well. He is the best Video Coordinator in college football today and the University of Illinois is lucky to have him.
My situation is currently being worked out at the time of this post. I will write more about the role I play in the 2012 Toledo Rocket football season and how it will influence the execution of my graduate project.
Your job sounds interesting John! What exactly does a video coordinator do? Are you the guy that is watching all of the cameras and determining which one should be televising at a particular moment? Looking forward to hearing more on the taping of the Rockets football team. May you land in a position with this work that takes advantage of your talents in this area!
ReplyDeleteThe Video Coordinator's primary role is to coordinate video taping of games and practice. This video is cut up for instructional purposes and provided to coaches for study, use in position meetings, and player training. When you hear a coach has been watching film in the film room all night they're studying footage shot and peovided by us.
ReplyDeleteWe also coordinate game exchanges with other universities. This enables us to gameplan for other teams. Breaking down defenses and offenses is not part of my job [THANK GOD!].
Part of my interest for this field stems from my passion for instructional video. My Blog I am using for this class is about my graduate project for my MLS degree: Aesthetics of Shooting Video for Football Coaching.
